Wasn’t that something Gilda Radner used to say when she was doing her character Roseanna Rosanadana on SNL?
Usually, I’d be saying this with hands thrown up at some hiccup or roadblock of frustration making me crazy. To be honest, this does happen a few times daily as is the nature of anything done on a computer by humans.
The thing is lately, as I have moved closer and closer to God throughout this journey, the something in the above phrase is said more in wonder than frustration. Literally, everyday some wonderful new or interesting thing is revealed and it is nothing short of amazing.
My most recent adventure happened last weekend. I had received a call several weeks ago requesting that I “speak” at a women’s retreat at a Christian Camp in the Pocono area in Pennsylvania. Initially, the text came from a number that I didn’t recognize, but after a few back and forth texts, my friend Heidi revealed herself. Apparently my phone had stored her number but deleted her name. I was still very honored to be asked and the dates worked so I agreed to do it. I admit I was a bit nervous. I’ve done women’s ministry at my church and am not intimidated by speaking to a crowd. I have a background in theater from my hey days of youth and worked in training and leadership within the Girl Scouts for many years. Even so, this was different. This was with complete strangers, a whole weekend event, and tying in the theme – Fruits of the Spirits – to my book “A Glimmer of Hope” and it turned out my speaking engagement was more a facilitation of the event with 3 specific sessions each with a different topic as well.
I knew God had opened the door for his purposes and everything I got for the even was a Holy Spirit download of amazing stuff and the entire event was great. It was well received. Those who attended were fed and reflections were really great in showing me why each part I was given was meant for each person attending, as well. And the camp was beautiful and so peaceful, I could have stayed for a month just to work on Go Godly and commune with God. You can check them out at http://www.twinpines.org should you need an event location for your next retreat. The staff was wonderful too – and don’t let the camp thing fool you. This is in the woods, and although there are “camp sites” – there are houses and lodges with bathrooms, showers, hot water, and actual beds like a hotel. So, this is glamping. Look hot water and a flush toilet after GS camp is LUXURY – let me tell you.
And God is doing what God is doing, which is opening new doors for new opportunities to grow this amazing vision beyond a blog and a WHOLE LOT OF SPREADSHEETS!! You have no idea, how many. So, now I am a speaker.
That seems interesting and yet another thing I didn’t expect at all. Yet as I prayed over the day today, God had me go back and look at a young preacher whose short video popped up on my Youtube feed last night. I never saw him before and no ZERO about him, but God was showing me the simplicity in His plan through that simple video. In it he took one scripture, a single verse and revealed a deeper meaning sharing what came before and what we so easily miss and how to apply it to our lives in the moment.
I’m sure to some people this isn’t any wild revelation. I do study bible and we do similar things there, but I can see God moving me toward speaking, podcasts, and more media work as we go. So many things outside my wheelhouse, but all building something amazing for God’s glory.
Check out my other blog to see a bit of the crazy and fun journey we are on right now as Go Godly grows and grows and grows.
